One of our university projects at Pompeu Fabra University required us to design and organize an event, with the added requirement of supporting a social cause. As five students working under the name De2N2, we identified a common issue among ourselves: despite spending years at university, we had not expanded our social circles beyond classmates.
We created a slow dating event with a twist. I developed a questionnaire that matched each participant with their most similar partner, but here's the catch: you could only find out your match if you actually showed up to the event. That way, curiosity did half the job of bringing people together. Once there, participants met their matches in a relaxed setting with food and drinks, designed to make conversations feel natural rather than forced.
In collaboration with La Marató de TV3, focused that year on sexual and reproductive health, we also invited professional sexologists and psychologists to answer questions and support participants. All proceeds from food, drinks, and giveaways were donated entirely to the cause.
